FAQ

Answers To Your Frequently Asked Questions

What is “Direct Primary Care”?

Direct Primary care or DPC is a model of medicine where the patient comes first. How do we do this? We offer medical care for a low monthly membership fee, rather than billing insurance.

How is DPC different from traditional medical offices?

Using the direct primary care model allows us to cut down on our overhead. We don’t have to hire extra staff to deal with insurance billing. Reducing overhead allows us to limit the number of patients in our practice and lower prices for YOU. No more feeling like a number. No more waiting days or weeks to see your Primary Care Provider all for a rushed 5-minute visit. No more call centers and being on hold for long wait times. We are here for YOU. We are available by text, call, and email after hours.  When you need to be seen, we make it happen the same or next day, by a provider who knows YOU. All this equals more patient centered quality care for YOU

Do you accept health insurance?

No. Although insurance is important to have for more serious illness or injuries, it tends to create barriers for day-to-day operations at LLFP. You would never expect your car insurance to cover your oil changes, tune-ups, or minor repairs, which would require cumbersome paperwork for reimbursement and prior authorizations for the work right?  By cutting out the middleman, medical costs are much more affordable, and accessible with this model of healthcare. Our fees are compliant with most HSA/FSA accounts as memberships can be a qualified medical expense. However, we do recommend paying annually as the best practice in order to use these accounts.

Do I still need a health insurance plan if I am a member of LLFP?

That is up to YOU, but not a requirement at Live Life Family Practice., although we do recommend it. It is important to be covered for catastrophic (i.e. unexpected hospitalizations) and unforeseen events as well as non-routine labs, some medications, specialist visits, and surgery. A great option is a low cost high deductible plan for these services. Our hope is that these events are far and few between now that you have 24/7 access directly to your provider, But the good news is: we can manage 80% of medical problems in our office or via virtual care!

Why pay for insurance and a membership fee if I have traditional insurance? Why pay twice?

Right now, you already do!  You pay an insurance premium and then any further fees up until you meet your deductible.  As a DPC member, you pay a flat rate for all your primary care services.  There are no surprise bills, hidden fees, copays, or unknown extra charges.  Your membership covers all of your visits with the provider as well as discounted rates on medications and lab work.  If you have not met your deductible and we do not provide a necessary service, we can help to find you the best prices for that service and help coordinate your care with outside services- YOU do not have to do this on your own.

Can I still join Live Life family Practice if I have Medicare?

Yes, we require you to sign a one-time waiver stating that neither you nor your medical provider will directly bill Medicare for our services. Medicare will still cover any laboratory testing, imaging, medications, or hospitalizations prescribed by our offices.

What about my prescriptions?

We do have many prescriptions available in the office for more affordable, wholesale pricing to purchase for cash. We work with you to find the best pricing for your prescriptions. If you decide to keep your traditional insurance, prescriptions can be covered through the local pharmacy as well.

How are you able to spend so much time with your patients?

Traditional insurance-based primary care providers have 2500-3500 patients. We are limiting ours to 600 patients to ensure we can provide you with high-quality, individualized care. This gives the provider time to know each patient personally and develop quality relationships with their patients.

How can LLFP help my business?

Having your employees enrolled with LLFP will help to keep them at work and performing at their highest potential. We focus on disease prevention and wellness- hoping to prevent long leaves of absences and keeping employees happy and at work.  We are here too for when they get injured or ill. Offering this service may allow you to retain employees, therefore likely saving you money. If you currently are unable to provide health insurance to your employees, now you can! This is a HUGE benefit to employees, and many people heavily weigh that in their decisions when choosing their long-term jobs and careers.

What is your cancellation policy?

We require 24 hours notice if you need to cancel or re-schedule your appointments. If there is no call or you don't show up for your scheduled appointment there will be a $50/$75 fee applied to account.

What are the policies on the membership fees, obligations & cancellations?

Billing: All membership fees will be collected on the 15th of the month.

Auto-Pay: All members are required to have a bank account on file and enroll in auto-pay. Due to our small staff, we are unable to bill an invoice to each patient. After your initial 6 months, there are no long-term contracts in place. You can cancel at any time and you will continue to have services, if you choose, through the end of your current billing cycle. If you pay on June 1st and notify us of cancellation on June 22nd, you will have services through the end of June and will not be charged after that. Please note, should you choose to cancel or allow your membership to lapse, there is a $150.00 re-enrollment fee.

6-Month Minimum: Upon joining, all members agree to a 6-month minimum commitment. Please note that these policies are in place to maintain the extremely high quality DPC services and standards we promise to all of our patients. DPC is about long-lasting, personal relationships with your provider, who knows YOU inside and out. We cannot provide exceptional and personalized medical care if our practice is treated as a revolving door. We want to help our patients as much as possible, so if ever any financial or other hardships arise, please speak with your provider they will be happy to help in any way they can.

Additional Services: All services not included in your membership (labs, pharmaceuticals etc.) will be billed to your bank account on file at the time of service. If you would prefer to pay for these services in cash, you can do so as well.

Late Payments: There will be a $10 fee for any insufficient funds, We allow you a 14-day grace period for late payments before your membership will fully lapse. After the 14-day grace period, your account will be suspended.  You will still be responsible for the initial 6 months of membership payments from the last payment we receive.
